6. Conclusion
The implementation of solutions capable of combining pressure reduction with energy recovery enables better management of water networks. The PRS device, an evolution of the Banki-Mitchell turbine, currently represents one of the best energy recovery devices. The aim of this article was to describe the advantages of the PRS device and to show the operation and effective energy efficiency of the PRS-PCV model (installed in series) on a real network, as an alternative to the PCV pressure control valve only.
Various operating scenarios were analyzed, and the results showed that by designing the PRS to achieve the project load loss, energy recovery and stress reduction on the existing PCV are maximized (scenario 2 in configuration C1).
