3. Bearing at the head of the installation

When a wastewater treatment plant is built, designers are most often obliged to install a lift station, for the following reasons in particular:

  • site topography :

    • Is the terrain suitable for gravity flow of collected ERU?

    • Is the ERU source at a lower altitude than the STERU?

  • hydraulic constraints :

    • when ERU are transported over long distances with variations in elevation, gravity flow may be insufficient,

    • lift stations regulate flows by temporarily accumulating ERU and then pumping it out at a constant rate;

  • sewer network configuration: in a complex urban wastewater system, several networks may converge on a single...
