Arasement; hedgerow removal
Hedge levelling involves removing the hedge by cutting down the trees and levelling the ditch and embankment.
Cépée; coppice
Cutting of trees at the base of the trunk and regrowth of branches from this level; common for chestnut, for example.

Trees are managed by cutting off lateral branches at regular intervals, defined in the rural lease.
