10.1 Water-energy-supply Nexus
The Water-Energy-Food nexus (Food Energy and Water - FEW) has been increasingly used since the 2010s. It highlights the fact that these three dimensions, which are fundamental to human societies, are closely interlinked. Water is needed to produce food and energy, energy and water are used to produce food, water cannot be managed for human needs without energy, and food in turn produces energy.
Actions on one pillar automatically have repercussions on the others.
