4. Global approach to air treatment

4.1 Classification of polluted air treatment processes

An initial approach to the general classification of systems for treating pollutant-laden air is shown in figure 4[10][50] . Arbitrarily, treatment and purification processes are divided into four main categories, depending on whether the pollutant(s) is (are) degraded or destroyed, or simply transferred or transformed with recovery, or whether the polluted gaseous discharge is stored.
