2. Scenario 2: UVCE-type explosion

An explosion is :

  • or bursting, a fairly frequent occurrence due to abnormally high pressure in an appliance as a result of malfunctioning of the installation, the addition of heat from a small external fire, or the explosion of a poorly degassed container;

  • or the explosion of a gas or vapour cloud, formed following a rupture and more or less intimately linked to the air: this cloud is very often "ignited" in the very installation where the leak occurred or in the immediate vicinity of the installation.

The effects of an explosion depend on a large number of factors:

  • gas reactivity ;

  • nature and initiation point of explosion ;

  • ignition source energy ;...
