5. Activated carbon regeneration

Regeneration of adsorbents is an economically interesting operation, but can only be applied to the desorption of certain volatile pollutants . It is carried out either at the activated carbon producer's, or in situ when treating air heavily laden with volatile organic compounds that are to be recovered and possibly recycled. Various processes can be used to break the equilibrium between the solid and gaseous phases. These include processes using temperature (TSA: Temperature Swing Adsorption), electrical heating
