As logistics activities are based on private initiatives, economic logic takes precedence: sites are located in areas that combine low-cost land with maximum accessibility, generally by road. Urban mutations (residential sprawl and polarization of activities), coupled with land and political pressures, have led to a gradual move away from logistics activities (the phenomenon of logistics desertification)
