5. Conclusion

The concept of sustainable development, formulated over thirty years ago, has gradually found its way into the transport sector. It is now known and put into practice by many players in the sector. This mobilization of economic players (transport and logistics providers, shippers) seems to be growing all the time, although it fluctuates according to economic difficulties. The public authorities support this mobilization, through support for voluntary initiatives (voluntary commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions), as well as through regulation (mandatory GHG information for transport services).

Despite this momentum, large-scale results have yet to be seen: GHG emissions from transport in France have been stagnating for over 15 years now, whereas we need to start reducing them, as envisaged in the National Low-Carbon Strategy in particular, and follow a trajectory...
