3. Conclusion and outlook
Current research focuses on the development of ultra-high-speed systems. Potential LiFi data rates of a few Gb/s are now conceivable, but only in configurations with a reasonable signal-to-noise ratio (short distance or high transmission power). We now need to make these systems more robust to adverse conditions. Configurations that are more conducive to higher data rates are also likely to emerge in the near future, through the use of more advanced OFDM modulation techniques, or more complex multiplexing (polychromatic, thanks to the wide range of colors available). It's reasonable to assume that data rates of several tens of Gb/s will be achieved.
Another field of development concerns organic components that can be used in LiFi transmission. Recent years have seen strong development of OLEDs, which can usefully replace LEDs
