6. Conclusion

For over 100 years, there's been very little evolution in lighting, with incandescent bulbs being the direct descendants of those created by Edison. Unfortunately, these bulbs aren't very efficient and require a lot of energy to produce light.

The future of lighting now lies in the search for brighter, more efficient and more reliable light sources. LEDs are the perfect answer to this new inspiration, offering up to 10 times better performance and twenty times longer life. Their growing popularity has led to a sharp drop in prices in recent years. LEDs are now much more affordable, and the investment is often repaid in less than 18 months through energy savings.

This means that LEDs will take over from incandescent lighting, which is set to disappear before the end of the decade, accompanied by the decline of fluorescent lamps in the home....
