4. Conclusion
In our introduction, we said that the BIM concept was not set in stone, as it is intimately linked to the use and development of new information and communication technologies. We can, of course, echo this statement in our conclusion. The practical application of BIM tools and processes has only just begun. Some of the technologies mentioned in this article will evolve and improve. We are thinking in particular of technologies for scanning and vectorizing structures. Exchange formats are also improving, and more and more applications will be IFC-certified. There is a risk, however, of native formats or proprietary collaborative platforms becoming the norm. This would be highly detrimental to the diversity of solutions and the benefits of competition. Associations and government initiatives are working to promote neutral formats and OpenBIM practices.
