2. Ethics

This section focuses on ethics, with particular reference to paragraph 4.4 of ISO 26000:2010 on ethical behavior.

2.1 Definition

It's a word on everyone's lips, in every media outlet, but what is ethics really?

Since Spinoza's Ethics, a treatise on practical philosophy published after his death in 1677, many minds have contributed a whole series of stones to the edifice. The term "ethics" has been defined in numerous ways.

First, let's consider the definition in the Larousse dictionary, which provides three definitions, two for the feminine noun ethics and one for the adjective ethics:
