4.1 Characterization principles and approaches
The procedure for analyzing uncertainty in the strict sense depends on the nature of the impacts being assessed. The assessment of "intrinsically uncertain" impacts, i.e. those linked to properties that can only be exhaustively represented within the framework of fuzzy logic (essentially noise, visual-cultural impact linked to land use and odours), already includes the estimation of uncertainty in the strict sense and does not require (by the very nature of the impact) an assessment of variability and imprecision
