Sensor; capteur

A device designed to perform a specific measurement. There are many different types of sensor, depending on the technology used and the magnitude they address. Every sensor contains a "transducer" which transforms the desired quantity into a parameter that can be observed/measured by the instrument.

Capteur à Fibres Optiques CFO; Optical Fiber Sensor OFS

Sensor, in which the optical fiber most often plays the role of transducer, exploiting an effect that causes the quantity to be detected to interact with one of the parameters of light. By semantic shift, the term CFO is often used to designate the entire measurement system (source + sensor(s) + analysis/demultiplexing).
