5. Other radiation tomography

Although many people think of tomography as a technique associated with the use of X-rays as a source of radiation, the method is first and foremost a technique for reconstructing data acquired through radiation-matter interaction. It can therefore be adapted to all types of radiation, as diverse and varied as neutrons, beta or gamma radiation, ultrasound or magnetic fields. As the principles described in this handbook for X-ray tomography apply to all types of radiation, we describe below a number of tomography methods that do not compete with X-ray tomography, but are complementary in terms of their fields of investigation.
