Here, we present the tools we believe to be the most relevant for estimating thermophysical properties from measurements taken in a photothermal experiment. In what follows, scalar quantities will be designated by italic lower-case letters (e.g. a, b, c...), vectors will be represented by bold lower-case letters (e.g. a, b, c...) while matrices will be designated by bold upper-case letters (e.g. A, B, C...).
