3. Electromagnetic fields
Electromagnetic fields are as much a part of our physical environment as noise, heat, light... With reference to the electromagnetic spectrum, the frequency range considered extends from a few hertz to around 300 GHz. However, for the sake of completeness, it will be extended to 0 Hz to encompass static fields. It should be noted that the upper part of the range, relating to microwaves, borders on the infrared range, with similar effects on biological media.
Table 1 covers static fields and, more specifically, magnetostatic fields (electrostatic fields, which do not appear to present a direct risk, will not be considered), as well as extreme low-frequency EBF fields (> 0 to 10 kHz), including mains frequency (50 Hz).
