8. Permanent insulation monitors for IT networks

8.1 Operating principle

These devices are designed to be installed in fixed positions to continuously monitor the earth insulation of IT networks where no point is connected to earth. However, the advantages of this formula disappear if the insulation develops a fault, and the purpose of these controllers is to trigger an alarm when the insulation resistance falls below a pre-programmed level.
