3. Measuring instruments
In addition to the infrastructure described in the previous chapter, setting up a metrology laboratory in the field of electricity and magnetism requires measuring instruments and standards, the choice of which is particularly important in order to position the laboratory in the chain of traceability of standards. The choice of measuring instruments to be supplied will be guided, depending on the physical quantity under consideration, by the ranges of values to be covered and the uncertainties associated with the corresponding measurements. The economic aspects of the business will also need to be taken into account, by responding to market demands, without forgetting to anticipate emerging or future markets.
