3. 6-port network analyzer configuration

3.1 General architecture

A single 6-port analyzer measures the reflection factor of 1-port microwave components. The dual 6-port network analyzer measures the four S parameters of 2-port networks. The latter (figure 3 ) consists of a pair of 6-port networks, and enables simultaneous determination of the reflection factors present on both sides of the device under test, under a number of different excitation conditions. In this way, the S parameters of the network in question can be determined from these measurement results.
