2. Description of some commercial devices

Viscosity metrology should obey precise rules, particularly as regards the use of well-defined, calculable flows. Many inventors of "viscometers" have paid little attention to these rules. There are a large number of devices on the market, some of which, when used for standardized measurements, can only be used with a given material, i.e. within a very narrow range of viscosity and elasticity. This is particularly true of Mooney viscometers specifically designed for rubber and rubber mixtures, paint viscometers, etc. They will not be described here. They will not be described here.
