6. Glossary
For the purposes of this document, some of the terms and definitions used in ISO 5660-1 are reproduced below.
Test tube; specimen
Representative part of the product to be tested with a possible substrate or treatment.
Intermittent flame; flashing
Presence of a flame on or above the surface of the test piece for periods of less than 1 s.
Ignition
Appearance of a persistent flame as defined below.
Flamme persistante; sustained flaming
Presence of a flame on or above the surface of the test piece for periods longer than 10 s.
