2. Civil and commercial uses
With a wide range of characteristics in terms of size, load capacity, endurance and maneuverability, UAVs can be equipped with all kinds of sensors (LIDAR, sound level meter, thermal camera, etc.) and are therefore used in a wide variety of situations, particularly in hostile environments or for so-called "Dull Dirty Dangerous" missions.
The most emblematic use is probably parcel delivery, as announced by American giant Amazon . Although this project seems to be coming to fruition, and cargo drones are being tested to deliver medicines to remote areas, the most frequent civilian applications are in the fields of surveillance, photography, information relay and entertainment.
