4.1 History of the OSEK/VDX proposal
OSEK/VDX (registered trademark of Continental AG) is an executive proposal for in-car electronics. This proposal is the result of work carried out by numerous European automakers and equipment suppliers since September 1995. OSEK was studied by mainly German teams, and VDX by GIE PSA-Renault; OSEK/VDX is the joint result of this work. One of the consortium's objectives is to standardize operating system interfaces to facilitate software supply from multiple sources, portability, interoperability and reuse. Various projects have been carried out within the OSEK/VDX framework. The main results are :
