2. Model representation

In this section, we focus on the introduction of models into the Matlab ® /Simulink ® environment. These models will be used to analyze and simulate the behavior of the systems modeled, and to synthesize correctors. Two systems will be used to illustrate the approach and the commands to be used. The first, a piezoelectric bimetallic strip, is widely used to actuate microsystems (very small systems). It will be approximated by a second-order linear model, widely used in the study of simple systems. The second, a paddle-wheel system, will demonstrate an interactive way of taking non-linearities into account.
