3. Control algorithms

An analysis of the type of process to be corrected and of the control specifications generally enables us to choose the type of corrector to be implemented. It is important for the control design to know whether or not the process is stable in open loop. Another important characteristic is the presence of a pure delay, which tends to destabilize the system when the loop is closed, and may require adapted synthesis methods. The presence or absence of integrators in the system leads to the choice of how many the controller should include. These considerations lead to a controller structure.
