2. Instrumentation

2.1 Spectroscopy system

A Raman spectrometry system comprises :

1 - a laser source whose beam is focused on the sample to be analyzed by appropriate optics;

2 - a sample stage ;

3 - optics for collecting the scattered light and coupling it to the spectral analysis device (spectrometer);

4 - a spectral analysis system (spectrometer) ;

5 - a highly sensitive radiation detector ;

6 - spectral data acquisition and processing electronics.

Depending on whether the system is designed to analyze relatively large samples or, on the contrary, a microscopic quantity of material, it is referred to as a conventional macroanalysis...
