6. Nuclear Overhauser effect
The Nuclear Overhauser Effect (NOE) is a major source of information in NMR.
Cross-dipolar relaxation is at the origin of the NOE. Solomon's equation is written below for the simplest case, that of an isolated pair of two nuclei A and S :
