3. Disturbances in SAA

Disruption, interaction or interference refers to the influence of one or more constituents of the medium analyzed on the determination of an element. Interactions can be the cause of systematic (representativeness of standards) or random (matrix different from one sample to another) accuracy errors. The concentration of the analyte determined without taking account of an interaction is called the apparent concentration; this may be higher than the true concentration, in which case there is exaltation; otherwise, depression. SAA disturbances are classified in three ways.
