5. Other two-level plans
5.1 Objectives of other two-level plans
Full factorial designs and fractional factorial designs are based on first-degree mathematical models. They cover most of the needs of experimenters in a roughing-out study. They will be used in the majority of cases.
Other two-level plans, also based on a first-degree mathematical model, have been developed for specific situations. The aim is either to find and accept a simple mathematical model, or to quickly select the few influential factors from a large number.
Here, we first examine Rechtschaffner's plans, which meet the first objective. Then we present the Plackett and Burman designs and the supersaturated designs that meet the second objective.
