11. Main changes between ATEX Directives 2014/34/EU and 94/9/EC
In 2008, it was decided to revise a number of product directives, due to a loss of confidence in CE marking, a clear disadvantage for those complying with the regulations, and differing practices applied by national authorities in designating conformity assessment bodies.
A new regulatory framework has therefore been proposed, comprising two parts:
Regulation (EC) 765/2008 on accreditation and market surveillance;
Decision 768/2008/EC on a common framework for the marketing of products.
