3. Data processing and analysis

3.1 Method

The first phase of processing is to format the data so as to provide all the information required for processing and analysis. Although the methods used depend on the individual and his or her habits, the first phase of processing often involves creating a column file, with each column dedicated to a parameter. The timestamp is obviously essential, and constitutes the line change variable.

This file contains the time, flight parameters (altitude, speed, static temperature), aircraft attitude (roll, sideslip, pitch) and microphysical instrument parameters.

Examination of the instruments' housekeeping parameters (internal temperature, voltage, etc.) quickly gives an idea of their operating quality.
