5. Conclusion
Sonochemistry, based on the use of ultrasonic waves in the power range from 20 to 2,000 kHz, has great potential as a breakthrough technology for a variety of chemical applications. This field, still under-exploited and sometimes considered only as a method of agitation, can lead to new reactivities and improvements in process efficiencies. . The many examples reported at laboratory scale in organic chemistry, catalysis, materials preparation, polymer synthesis or degradation, extraction, effluent treatment and many others confirm the importance of overcoming the technical and technological obstacles to scale-up.
