
5. Conclusion
This article presents the general concept of surface integrity and its application to CAD/CAM-formed dentures. These prostheses must respect several clinical functionalities expected by the practitioner and the patient, such as mechanical retention on the tooth, non-retention of dental plaque, wear of the prosthesis and the antagonist tooth, and prosthesis service life/fatigue.
The study of the correlation between surface integrity and prosthetic functionalities has established that roughness corresponds to a preponderant surface integrity component in dentistry, and has at least one correlation with all the clinical functionalities expected on a conjoint prosthesis.
