3. Assessment and prospects

3.1 Positive points

The project has provided useful results to both academic and industrial teams.

  • The production of test data, enlightening the understanding of complex physical phenomena in hydrodynamics : transition of turbulence on a lifting profile, cavitation inception, estimation of deformations, evaluation of hydrodynamic forces on the profile, exploited for design purposes.

  • The step-by-step construction of a calculation methodology, its declension and its adaptation in the design office, in particular with the help of engineers and experts from Sirehna, a subsidiary of DCNS (Naval Group), specialized in hydrodynamics (see previous section). Calculations by co-simulation are thus made possible and accessible...
