Impedance matching

In order to transfer microwave energy from the source to the workpiece, a suitable line is required. The principle is to limit reflections upstream of the applicator, so as to store the energy in the applicator itself. Various systems are used for impedance matching (screw stubs, iris, hybrid tee, etc.).

Applicator (or cavity)

Waveguide section delimited by the PCC and the coupling iris (single-mode cavities) or simply a closed metal enclosure (multi-mode cavities). The applicator or cavity is the volume inside which the parts to be treated are positioned.
