3. Glass-ceramics production

Glass-ceramics are generally produced in three stages:

  • choice of glass composition to obtain the desired crystalline phase ;

  • synthesis of parent glass using a melting process (+ tempering if necessary), followed by shaping (mold);

  • glass crystallization, the ceramization heat treatment will be chosen according to the crystallization mechanism involved and the desired microstructure.
