2. Biobased epoxy monomers from research and commercialization
The high toxicity, negative effects on health and the environment, and petroleum-based nature of the reagents needed to synthesize DGEBA have prompted many academic and industrial researchers to look for less toxic and more environmentally-friendly alternatives. Research into the development of biobased epoxy resins is booming, and has already led to the marketing of some (partially) biobased epoxy resins.
