3. Friction under the punch
A hydrodynamic film can form under the punch if the lubricant is present in excess of the sheet's roughness (see 1.2.3). We first present the theory of this effect, then specify the orders of magnitude of friction if the hydrodynamic effect is negligible. A summary of these two aspects without numerical simulation is presented in § 5.1.1.
