2. Trees and housing
The shaft and housing are components of the bearing which influence its operation. In this respect, the nature of the shaft and its surface condition determine the choice of antifriction material, just as the nature and rigidity of the housing are parameters influencing the definition of the ring or bushing.
2.1 Trees
For the shaft to fulfill its function in the bearing, i.e. to support and transmit forces and torques, it must have the following properties.
