-
Manufacturers of heavy-duty and industrial diesel engines generally follow API recommendations in their recommendations, both for 4-stroke engines (Caterpillar, Cummins, GM, Deere, etc.) and for 2-stroke engines (GM/Detroit Diesel), adding special requirements in terms of physico-chemical characteristics.
Mack Trucks alone requires oils meeting its own specifications, such as Mack EO-M (~ API CH-4) and, since 1999, Mack EO-M Plus exceeding API CH-4 level, then EO-N Premium at API CI-4 level.
