The relationship between stress σ* and strain ε* is written :

ε * (t ) = J* (ω ) σ* (τ )
or ε*(t ) = [ J ' (ω ) – iJ '' ( ω )]σ* (t )

where J ' is real dynamic complacency and J '' is imaginary dynamic complacency.

The dynamic response of the material is defined in the Zener model by the equations : J=JU+JRJU1+ω2τσ2
