9. Fields of application
The growing use of zinc in industry is linked above all to the metal's chemical properties, and in particular to its highly reducing properties: corrosion protection, alkaline batteries. In addition, zinc's relatively low melting point, when used in alloy form, enables the production of complex, thin castings.
Figure 22 shows the main uses of zinc, by type of product and sector of activity.
