2. Thermodynamic slag models

The above description shows that liquid slags are far more complex than alloys. Using a Redlich-Kister development to describe the excess free enthalpy of a silico-aluminate melt would require pushing the development too far, which would make it uninteresting.

Several slag models have been developed , which means that none of them is entirely satisfactory. Let's take a look at them. But, as is often the case, simple models are not very accurate, and realistic models are difficult to use.
