11. Industrial cases

All plants that treat anodic copper electrorefining sludge use the Outokumpu and Boliden processes to a greater or lesser extent. The preliminary stage consists of recovering the base metals (Cu, Ni...). Selenium and tellurium are then extracted. The final residue from these operations is a concentrate of precious metals (Ag, Au, platinoids), which is sent to a metallurgical plant specializing in their recovery [M 2 390] Platinum metallurgy.
