3. Defects on rolled products

Surface defects observed on rolled products can be classified into three main categories:

  • defects due to incorrect gear adjustment ;

  • defects occurring during rolling ;

  • ingots.

These defects can be combined on the same ingot. To prevent them from being transmitted to the wire train, billets are inspected and repaired during the finishing process.
