3. Deslagging of cast iron pretreatment slag

Various techniques are used industrially to deslag cast iron pretreatment slags (figure 19 ). These slags are in variable quantities (of the order of 5 kg/t cast iron in the case of desulfurization with CaC 2 and 70 kg/t cast iron for that of dephosphorization with lime) and have a fluidity dependent on the type of treatment undergone by the cast iron and the pretreatment agent used.

Desiliconizing slags are generally liquid and foamy, and lend themselves well to scouring with a planer or slag vacuum.

Table 4 shows the consistency of slag according to the cast iron pretreatment adopted.
