Treatment processes for platinum ores differ completely depending on whether the ore consists of alluvium (placer deposits) in which the PGMs are in a free state, or of Ni-Cu sulfide ores in which the platinum is mineralogically bound, with the exception of the summit parts of the deposit where free platinum can be found as a result of oxidation of the deposit.
