2. Non-chemical stripping processes

2.1 Thermal stripping

  • These processes involve thermally degrading the organic components of coatings by means of a flame at a temperature of between 400 and 500°C. Pyrolysis residues are then removed by scraping. Such methods can be used for all types of paint, but require a temperature-resistant substrate.

    This operation requires advanced technology, since the parts to be stripped are placed in a confined enclosure (a furnace) which must be thermally insulated from the outside environment....
